Slotted rotors improve brake pad performance by lightly scraping away dust and used friction material from the brake pad and exposing the more critical active layer underneath. The slot edges clean the pad surface so only the most effective pad material is available to make contact with the rotor surface. Drilling the rotor allows an easy escape path for gases and water that improves pad-rotor contact, especially in wet conditions. StopTech Slotted & Drilled rotors are made using Centric High Carbon blank rotors. A black electrostatic coating is applied to prevent rust on the brake hat and vanes. The entire rotor is coated, followed by CNC double-disc grinding and slotting of the friction surface and final computer balancing.
